Pawel Franik was born in Knurow in the Silesia province on 22 February 1991. He currently lives in Warsaw, Poland. He holds a Master of Arts Degree from WST in Katowice, Poland. Pawel describes himself as a shy person who uses photography as a means to connect with others. The way in which Franik describes himself and the people around him it is very clear that he may be young but his soul has a deep understanding of solitude that seems wise beyond his years.
The Passion Behind Pawel Franik’s Images
It is so strange to hear someone describe solitude in a vast open space as a delightful experience that he sees as a necessity! It is this understanding of needing some time alone in a vast open space to reconnect with your inner being that drives Pawel’s powerful images. The most captivating part of his photographs is the minimalist way in which he captures his subjects without feeling pressurized to add effects or embellishments. This in itself is almost defiant in that it goes against how we live; always looking to stand out by surrounding ourselves with possessions that create a persona.
A Minimalist Photographer Who Seeks the Beauty in Solace
Franik, who is an accomplished artist in film, motion graphics and photography says the even these “ordinary” photos have a dense and sometimes hidden meaning. For him taking a photograph allows him to hold that moment in his hands – it is truly a beautiful way to describe the art of photography. Which is how one can describe Pawel, a visual artist who sees the beauty in solace and wants to share this with the world.
If ever there was a time to change how we as humans see being alone as a benefit instead of something we should pity, then it certainly would be now and through the openness of Franik’s images.
